Help Earthquake Survivors in Northern Afghanistan
A powerful magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Northern Afghanistan on November 3, 2025, with its epicenter near Khulm in Balkh Province. The quake was felt across Balkh, Samangan, and neighboring provinces, causing widespread damage to homes and critical infrastructure.
Initial reports from the Ministry of Public Health and UNICEF indicate:
20–24 people have lost their lives, with numbers expected to rise as assessments continue
Over 900 people have been injured, including women, children, and the elderly
Hundreds of homes have collapsed or been severely damaged, displacing families overnight
In several districts, entire villages have been partially or completely destroyed
Local hospitals are overwhelmed, with medical supplies and capacity under strain
Families who have lost their homes are now facing cold weather conditions without safe shelter, leaving them exposed to severe health and protection risks.

Displaced and affected communities urgently require:
Emergency shelter and temporary safe living arrangements
Medical support, first aid, and trauma care
Warm clothing, blankets, and winter protection
Clean water, hygiene items, and basic household supplies
Psychosocial support, especially for children and those coping with trauma
